Current Makeup Routine

My current makeup routine, step by step

Whenever I post on my stories with some makeup on, I get a bunch of DM’s asking if I can do a makeup tutorial. Let me start off by saying I am NOT a professional LOL. I probably don’t do certain things correctly, but this works for me 🙂 I uploaded an IGTV video showcasing each step here.

#1 LOTION (ELF) || I put lotion all over my face before I put my primer on or anything else. My face tends to get really dry in every season, so if I do not put lotion on, my nose and cheeks will dry up and peel under my makeup && we don’t want that. It’s extremely weird lol. I have tried various hydrating lotions and have used the ELF one for almost a year now. Not only is it super affordable, but it does the job.

#2 FACE PRIMER PRIMER || I pat/rub this onto under my eyes and by my nose (underneath near my lip), on my chin, and a little on my forehead. It helps to hold my makeup and hide my larger pores. This primer has by far been the best one I have tried. I have been loving Tula products and this was no exception.

#3 FOUNDATION || Wearing the shade “465” when I have no tan and “490” when I have that sun kissed glow. I kind of just put some all over my face and neck and buff it in with this brush. I have tried using beauty blenders, but I do not get the same effect I do if I buff it in with a brush. I also bring the excess to my chest area if I am wearing a lower cut shirt. I find that I do not apply it as evenly with a beauty blender, than I do with a brush. Also, Jamie (@makeupbyjaysaunz) talked about this foundation on her story and then I saw Tricia (@hairby_trici) and she was wearing it, and I knew I needed to try it. It has the best wear and is such an amazing formula.

#5 CONCEALER || I use the shade “Light Beige.” I just started using like two months ago and prefer it over shape tape. I apply my concealer under my eyes, on the sides of my nose, under my nose, on my chin, on the top of my nose, and on my forehead; all in the shape of a triangle. I then damp my beauty blender, with this setting spray and buff/dab the concealer in to blend it into my face.

#6 SETTING POWDER || I use the shade “Translucent” to set my concealer! This has by far been the best one I have tried and used. I apply it with the same beauty blender I applied my concealer with here. I apply it to every place I put the concealer, as well as around my mouth because I get crease lines there. After 5 or so minutes, I wipe it off with a brush. No specific one, but I usually use one like this.

#7 BRONZER & CONTOUR || To apply my contour, I make a fish face and apply the bronzer to my cheek bones to make them look more defined. I then apply it on my forward and jawline. You end up applying it like the number 3. I then do the side of my nose and a small line across the bridge of my nose. I use this brush to apply the bronzer on my face and this brush (the largest one) to apply it to my cheeks bones, forehead, and jawline. I use either this brush set to contour my nose and then use the other brush in it to blend it out. I also sometimes use a foundation stick to just add a bit to the look before doing it with my bronzer, with this in “F11”

#8 BLUSH || Wearing shade “Berry Amore” which is my favorite! I love the baked blushes because they give me the best color. I apply this to the apple of my cheeks and towards my contour. I use the brush all the way to the right in this pack to apply the blush.

# EYES (PALETTE, PRIMER, TAPE) || I use the Huda Beauty or the Carli Bybel palette (which is no longer for sale) on a daily basis. Because I have brown eyes, I have found that pinks, purples, etc work best to really make my eyes pop. So first I use the eye primer. Then I will blend the “COLOR” and “COLOR” into my crease using this brush. Once I have a good base color I like, I then do the outside corners of my eyes with a brown or black eyeshadow to give it a slight smokey eye effect with this brush. Then, I use this brush (and wet it with my setting spray) to get some glitter or pigment onto the lid of my eye. Wetting it prior to using glitter or more pigmented eyeshadows will really glop it on for the brighter effect. Lastly I will put a little but more of the darker brown or black onto the end of my eye lid again and blend it using this brush.

#9 EYELINERS (BOTTOM, TOP) || I use a liquid eyeliner on the top lid and a regular pencil for the bottom lid. My eyes are extremely sensitive, and these are the only two that have not bothered me. To get a winged look, I tend to follow my eyelid up and just hope for the best LOL.

#10 MASCARA (CURLER, PRIMER, MAIN, MAGNETIC LASHES) || First I use the lash curler on both eyes. I then use the primer to really extend my lashes out as much as possible. I usually put it on one eye, top and bottom, and then put it on the other. Once they both have it, I go back to the first eye and put mascara on then do to the other so it gives the primer a chance to dry a little. Then, I use the magnetic lashes, if I want that extra boom, since I can’t apply lashes with glue (I literally just don’t get how people do it! It is so hard LOL), and my eyes are too sensitive to get extensions.

#11 HIGHLIGHTER || I am obsessed with Kylie Cosmetic’s highlighters. I have three of them and literally use them all the time. I use this brush to apply it to the bridge of my nose, the tip of my nose, above my eyebrow, right under my eyebrow, above my top lip, and above my cheekbones.

#12 LIPS (LINER, LIPSTICK, & MOISTURIZER) || Liner is the shade “dusty rose,” the lipstick is “velvet teddy.”

#13 SETTING SPRAY || I spray this all over my face once my makeup is complete. It helps to set it and keep it looking matte.

#14 OTHER ITEMS || (Items I use behind the scenes) Beauty Sponge Cleaner, Waterless Brush & Sponge Cleaner,

Hope this helps! You can also head to my instagram to watch me apply it on IGTV <3

May Ipsy Bag

The May Ipsy bag is here! So excited for this one! I LOVE everything in the bag.

  1. lipp.JPG – (click image for the link) Lord & Berry Lip 2010 Maximatte in “P3405 Intimacy”- This is such a pretty color. Pinks and dark pinks look good on me, so I always put that I prefer this lip color along with nudes. It has a really smooth consistency to it, and I love it.
  2. brio.JPG– (click image for the link) I have been looking for a good leave in conditioner and have actually been looking at this on sephora because of the really good reviews it has. I am so excited to try this and will update you all once I do!
  3. eye.JPG  – (click image for the link) The eye shadow brush is part of this makeup brush set and is only sold separately as part of the Ipsy Bag. But, the brush is so incredibly soft and I love the way the eye shadow on it applies to my eyes. I highly recommend.
  4. sur.JPG – (click image for the link) This mask helps to remove dead skin and large pores. I have seen these face masks all over the place and have been wanting to try them. I got two in my bag so my husband and I will try this out.
  5. Capture.JPG – (click image for the link) I received the sample size of this mascara and cannot believe how volumizing it is! I love the mascara and how voluminous it makes my eyelashes look amazing!

Do you receive Ipsy bags or do you want to? Let me know in the comments below!

XOXO,

Nina

Amazon Must-Haves

Amazon Must-Haves

  1. Fire TV Stick – I love the Fire stick. You plug it right into your tv and can stream your netflix, hulu, and other tv apps. It is a lot cheaper than items such as the apple tv and works very well!
  2. Nest Thermostat (3rd Generation) – Anyone else forgetful like me? I always forget to turn the air down before I leave the house and do not realize until we are already far away. With the Nest thermostat, you can set the temperature right from your phone! So, if you are like me and go away for vacation and start panicking wondering if you remembered to turn the air/heat down before you left, you can easily have a stress free vacation with this thermostat!
  3. Nest Indoor Security Camera  – I am huge on security and keeping my family, myself, and my home safe. Even before my husband and I closed on our home, I bought 2 of these to have and install when we did. They are indoor cameras and are amazing. Nest also makes outdoor, but I have not tried those. When someone walks past the cameras or they sense something and you have them on, you can set the app to get a notification sent directly to your phone. My husband and I set these to notify us when we are not home. I highly recommend them for home security.
  4. Silicone Apple Watch band – Anyone else have the Iwatch and love all of the colors of the sports bands but not want to spend $50.00 on each band is a little insane to me. I ended up buying this band in white, navy, gray, and turquoise and still want them all!
  5. I Phone Case – OK, this case is amazing!! I also have it for my ipad. It has a protective screen built in as well as an overall protective case. I ordered two extras for both my iphone and ipad as back-up just incase this company stops selling on amazon. It is amazing and easy to put on yourself.
  6. Lipstick Holder – I keep all of my lipsticks in this case. It keeps them in line and I can easily see the name or color based on which way I have them. It also comes in a black color but I love the clear so that I can see my lipsticks.
  7. Makeup Case – I posted about this herebut had to mention it again. My sister purchased this item for almost 6 times the price and they are exactly the same. I especially love this case for vacation because I can throw all of my makeup in it while getting ready and quickly pull the strings on the side to clean up my makeup and put it away in my bag!
  8. Makeup Brushes – I have bought these a few times and love them. They last a long time. The pair I am currently using have been going strong for about 6 months. I clean them and take extremely good care of them.
  9. Fusion Water Bottle – Anyone else love lemon in their water?! ME! I have also tried this with oranges and other fruit and it perfectly fuses the fruit into the water without worrying about the seeds. I have it and white and the teal color and love them.
  10. Apple Watch Charging Stand – If you have an apple watch, you need this! I am able to charge my watch without fear it will fall off my night stand and can charge all of my devices through the same system. It really is great.
  11. Soundbot Wireless Shower Speaker – Not sure about everyone else but I love to listen to music while I shower, but obviously hate bringing my phone anywhere near the shower in fear it will ruin. My husband bought this for me a few years ago and I use it every time I shower, I highly recommend it. The sound is really good and it worked perfectly. Plus, you cannot beat that price!
  12. Oval Makeup Brush – I use the largest one to put on my foundation and have ordered this set twice. I always see the “Artis” set but refuse to spend that kind of money on brushes. The brushes are good and perfect for the price.

Are there any other products from Amazon that you have tried and loved? Let me know if the comments below?
