The New and Improved Water & Wine Site!

It is finally done and finally here, welcome to the new and improved Water & Wine!

Thanks to Blogerize, I now have the website I have been wanting but didn’t know how to do it! Back in October, Emily from Blogerize reached out to me asking if I would like to collab for a blog makeover and I was so excited! At first, I was a little apprehensive because I know how expensive a blog makeover could be, and they were offering it for free! I quickly did some research and read some reviews and realized how awesome this opportunity was, and I jumped on it! Then began the design process.

Emily and I emailed back and forth for a few days discussing what I was looking for in a blog, what colors and overall flow I wanted for my readers, and some other questions relating to my design. We also discussed my webhost. At the time, I was using wordpress.com with a premium account. In order to set up the blog I wanted I either needed a business plan or I needed to host my site elsewhere. After checking the price of a business account, I decided to go with Siteground, as my hosting site. I still have the premium account and just host my site on Siteground which is WAY cheaper. I pay a few dollars a month on Siteground and still am able to do things through WordPress.

Once this was set up, Emily moved my site to be hosted on Siteground, and we were able to add things like widgets! Then we started the actual design. Her team set up a design and sent it over. I knew the overall flow I wanted, so Emily really worked with me to make it EXACTLY what I wanted. It may have taken a bit long, but Emily was so patient with my crazy schedule and really worked with me to get it done.

Prior to working with Emily and Blogerize, I had set up a random template from Blogerize and really just did whatever to get it started never really knowing how to make it into what I wanted. I always loved having my topics with pictures from previous posts at the top and having categories that were easy to maneuver through and understand! I also wanted the sides to have recent posts, my instagram recent posts, and to include clickable buttons to be able to follow me on all social media accounts, if my followers wanted to.

My experience with blogerize has been absolutely amazing, and I would highly recommend them. I think it is so important to work with someone that is responsive, eager to help and teach you, and someone who will still respond/help once the design is done. To this day, I still ask Emily questions and she answers them and helps me without a problem!

Thank you Blogerize for this awesome experience!!!

Holiday Gift Guide for Under $50: Cozy Homebody Edition

ONE // TWO // THREE // FOUR // FIVE // SIX // SEVEN // EIGHT // NINE // TEN // ELEVEN // TWELVE

Hi Babes!

My website is complete! Waiting for the shop tab to be done but otherwise, it’s done! Can’t wait to tell you all about the company that helped me put it all together, Blogerize! A post will be up later this week 🙂

I wanted to share my favorite finds under $50 for the Cozy Homebody like myself. These items are perfect for gifts, and I might have ordered a few for myself already! I love cozy items and love to stay comfy. A bunch of these are on sale for cyber monday so take advantage while you can!

ONE: I love anything cable knit and monogram so when I saw this I knew it would be the perfect gift. I have cable knit stockings and blankets around my house and absolutely love them!
TWO: Slippers are a must for me at home. Even with socks on my feet are always cold, and I love moccasin slippers with the fur inside like this pair. Plus how can you beat the price?
THREE: I have a few fleece pullovers now, and they have become a huge staple for the winter. I went and tried this on and instantly fell in love with it.
FOUR: I have this exact one and a cable knit one from express and wear them all the time. They are amazing and are perfect for when you still want to look cute but want to be warm.
FIVE: Sock slippers – THE best thing ever invented. If you have a dog that loves shoes, these are for you. Riley attacks my slippers so these have become staples in my home.
SIX: I love kiehls everything, but their lip balm is another level. When my lips start to feel dry this saves me.
SEVEN: I have a similar face roller and love it. I use it to smooth out rough spots on my face and decrease puffiness. If I do not get enough sleep my under eyes get extremely puffy, and I use this to help decrease it.
EIGHT: I am always searching for comfortable and cute pajamas and these definitely do not disappoint.
NINE: Another cute throw blanket! I love having throw blankets around my house to dress up certain furniture. I love the color of this one, but it comes in multiple colors. Perfect to hang over a bed, couch, chair etc!
TEN: These quayxdesi sunglasses are my favorite sunglasses ever! My best decision was getting a pair and these are on sale!
ELEVEN: How could you not love a cute mug?!
TWELVE: I love uggs, but sometimes I just can’t justify spending that much money on a pair, so here is a perfect ugg dupe!

Today is my first day back to work after having a few days off and it’s definitely rough! But, considering tomorrow’s Friday, hopefully these two days go fast! I have a full weekend planned that I am really excited about!

I always look for cute layering items, as you can tell from my last few posts, and always find myself buying vests. They are perfect to go over a shirt or sweater. I found this cute plaid vest on amazon while looking at some clothes and knew I had to have it. I love plaid for the fall and thought this beige one was so cute!

I am wearing a size medium in the vest so that I can layer it and a small in the top which is also from amazon. I can’t wait to show you guys more amazon pieces because some of their stuff is honestly so cute! I’m wearing a size 4 in the jeans (27) and they are TTS. The boots are Jessica Simpson a few seasons ago but I have linked similar ones for you!

Are you a plaid fan?

Happy Friday!

I am so ecstatic that the weekend is finally here because I have a long weekend! I am off Monday & Tuesday and working from home on Wednesday so I will finally have the time to catch up on some emails 😘 I am also really excited because a friend of mine has sent me some Monat Samples to try so I will be trying those this weekend and updating you on them on my stories. Just a disclaimer though, I do not work for their company nor am I being paid to say how I feel about them. I will always give my complete and honest opinion, & I only have a small sample so I cannot truly tell how it will be long term just how my hair feels that day.

Anyway, I love running errands in some leggings and layers, and lately this outfit has been my go-to! I got this sweater a few seasons ago from Calvin Klein and still love & wear it all the time. When I am out and about I don’t like to always wear heavy coats so this jean jacket and sweater combo keeps me pretty warm!

I am wearing a medium in the jacket which is big but I wanted to be able to layer sweatshirts underneath it. The leggings I am wearing a size S and they fit super comfy. And for the sweater, I am wearing a medium to be able to layer items underneath when it gets really cold!

What’s your go to outfit to wear when you are out running errands?

Happy Tuesday!

I hope those of you in cold weather are bundling up because it’s a cold one today! As the weather continues to transition, I love finding ways to still wear “summer” items during the various seasons. One thing I absolutely love, is layering pieces over summer dresses! Depending on the dress and items used, you can make such a cute outfit.

I couldn’t get over how cute this plaid dress was and knew I had to find a way to wear it in the fall, so I thought this adorable sweater at franscesca’s and decided to layer them with some OTK boots. The dress is from SHEIN, so see my post about sizing here (wearing a size medium here and it’s not super tight) and the sweater is slightly big so I would size down (wearing a small).

I knew this sweater would be so cute layered and I’m so glad it is. Other ways you can wear it would be over a collared shirt for work or ever with jeans and a leather jacket with some booties for a date night. Loving how versatile these pieces are!

What pieces in your closet do you love layering?

Balayage & Hair Extensions

Hi Babes!

My hair is finally done and I am so excited!! I have not done anything to my hair in almost 6 years and knew I needed to do something different, so balayage was my first step. In this post I am going to talk a little about the process of both dying my hair and getting the extensions so I apologize in advance for the long post!

Before I get into it, I just have to tell you guys about this amazing salon I went to. Hairology was amazing and truly exceeded my expectations. The set up and decor is so pretty and I love that about them. I truly believe that wherever you go, the look of the place directly reflects their service. If it is nicely kept and pretty, you know you will get good service, which is exactly what I got here. Everyone is so nice and they are all willing to help each other. I highly recommend them!

Balayage

Like I mentioned above, I have not done anything with my hair in 6 years and have dark brown hair. I knew the process wouldn’t be easy and would probably not turn out the way I wanted it to, but I was so wrong. Amy from Hairology looked at the pictures I showed her and listened to what I was looking for and provided that and much more! I showed her the three pictures below and a few more and told her I wanted my hair to look like that, I wanted blonde but not full blonde.

My inspiration pictures really helped to show Amy exactly what I was looking for. Since my hair was so dark, the entire process took about 2.5 hours. I sat under the heat for about 35 minutes and sat without heat for about 25.

Once the color we were looking for started to lift, Amy and her fellow employees washed out my hair and put in a toner to get the blonde I wanted. I do have to mention, if you plan on getting extensions all while dying your hair, make sure they try to match a color. Amy is familiar with the extension colors and knew the color I was looking for so matching for me wouldn’t be a problem. When Amy first washed my hair and took it out of the towel, I thought it wasn’t light enough, but you truly cannot tell until your hair is dry. When she dried it, I was in love!

The color came out perfect and I honestly could not wait! The next step was ordering the extensions. I knew I wanted them for length, so I got the 18-20 inch extension in the color 5/23 which is an ombre color. It usually takes about 2 days to come in if they are in stock, so I made my appointment and left.

Extensions

Waiting the three days to come get my extensions done, felt like a lifetime. I was so excited that I just wanted it to happen asap. The day finally came, and I could hardly wait. They instructed me to wash my hair that morning and to straighten it. When the hair is straight, it is easier to get the Tape in Extensions put in. I will tell you later in the post why I chose the Tape Ins over all the other ones they have, but wanted to let you know a little bit about the process first.

When I got there, they started the process right away. Amy sectioned off my hair and started putting them in. I couldn’t believe how easy it was. It was like taping items together except obviously the tape is a stronger adhesive. I was done within 20 minutes and then we curled my hair. The process was so quick and easy and Amy made sure to answer all my questions and give me some details.

I was not allowed to wash my hair for 24-48 hours. When I brush my hair, I can brush by the tape but I have to make sure not to push and brush through the tape. The upkeep for them is every 10-12 weeks where I would go back and have them lifted. The hair lasts for 3 uses so basically for a total of 9 months. I love them and can’t wait to style my hair now!

Other Extensions & My Thoughts on Tape Ins

I have had various different types of extensions including clip ins, Braidless beaded sew ins, and fusion extensions. After a few hours I was sick of them for various reasons. With the braidless beaded sew in extensions, I constantly had headaches because it was so heavy on my head. It was also impossible to comb these extensions and I hated having them. The fusion extensions weren’t as bad, but they only lasted 4-6 weeks and pulled on certain areas of my head which made it hurt. Lastly, the clip ins are always a good option, but I wanted something a little more permanent because after a few hours the clips would hurt my head.

Honestly, seeing what works best for you is the best piece of advice I can give. Most people like the fusion, but now that I have had the tape extensions I will not go back. It literally feels like nothing is in my hair and it feels so natural which is what I was looking for. I highly recommend them!
Hope this post was helpful! Let me know if you have any burning questions!

Have you had extensions before? If so, what kind?

Nina
