Balayage & Hair Extensions

Hi Babes!

My hair is finally done and I am so excited!! I have not done anything to my hair in almost 6 years and knew I needed to do something different, so balayage was my first step. In this post I am going to talk a little about the process of both dying my hair and getting the extensions so I apologize in advance for the long post!

Before I get into it, I just have to tell you guys about this amazing salon I went to. Hairology was amazing and truly exceeded my expectations. The set up and decor is so pretty and I love that about them. I truly believe that wherever you go, the look of the place directly reflects their service. If it is nicely kept and pretty, you know you will get good service, which is exactly what I got here. Everyone is so nice and they are all willing to help each other. I highly recommend them!

Balayage

Like I mentioned above, I have not done anything with my hair in 6 years and have dark brown hair. I knew the process wouldn’t be easy and would probably not turn out the way I wanted it to, but I was so wrong. Amy from Hairology looked at the pictures I showed her and listened to what I was looking for and provided that and much more! I showed her the three pictures below and a few more and told her I wanted my hair to look like that, I wanted blonde but not full blonde.

My inspiration pictures really helped to show Amy exactly what I was looking for. Since my hair was so dark, the entire process took about 2.5 hours. I sat under the heat for about 35 minutes and sat without heat for about 25.

Once the color we were looking for started to lift, Amy and her fellow employees washed out my hair and put in a toner to get the blonde I wanted. I do have to mention, if you plan on getting extensions all while dying your hair, make sure they try to match a color. Amy is familiar with the extension colors and knew the color I was looking for so matching for me wouldn’t be a problem. When Amy first washed my hair and took it out of the towel, I thought it wasn’t light enough, but you truly cannot tell until your hair is dry. When she dried it, I was in love!

The color came out perfect and I honestly could not wait! The next step was ordering the extensions. I knew I wanted them for length, so I got the 18-20 inch extension in the color 5/23 which is an ombre color. It usually takes about 2 days to come in if they are in stock, so I made my appointment and left.

Extensions

Waiting the three days to come get my extensions done, felt like a lifetime. I was so excited that I just wanted it to happen asap. The day finally came, and I could hardly wait. They instructed me to wash my hair that morning and to straighten it. When the hair is straight, it is easier to get the Tape in Extensions put in. I will tell you later in the post why I chose the Tape Ins over all the other ones they have, but wanted to let you know a little bit about the process first.

When I got there, they started the process right away. Amy sectioned off my hair and started putting them in. I couldn’t believe how easy it was. It was like taping items together except obviously the tape is a stronger adhesive. I was done within 20 minutes and then we curled my hair. The process was so quick and easy and Amy made sure to answer all my questions and give me some details.

I was not allowed to wash my hair for 24-48 hours. When I brush my hair, I can brush by the tape but I have to make sure not to push and brush through the tape. The upkeep for them is every 10-12 weeks where I would go back and have them lifted. The hair lasts for 3 uses so basically for a total of 9 months. I love them and can’t wait to style my hair now!

Other Extensions & My Thoughts on Tape Ins

I have had various different types of extensions including clip ins, Braidless beaded sew ins, and fusion extensions. After a few hours I was sick of them for various reasons. With the braidless beaded sew in extensions, I constantly had headaches because it was so heavy on my head. It was also impossible to comb these extensions and I hated having them. The fusion extensions weren’t as bad, but they only lasted 4-6 weeks and pulled on certain areas of my head which made it hurt. Lastly, the clip ins are always a good option, but I wanted something a little more permanent because after a few hours the clips would hurt my head.

Honestly, seeing what works best for you is the best piece of advice I can give. Most people like the fusion, but now that I have had the tape extensions I will not go back. It literally feels like nothing is in my hair and it feels so natural which is what I was looking for. I highly recommend them!
Hope this post was helpful! Let me know if you have any burning questions!

Have you had extensions before? If so, what kind?

The Cutest Lace Detail Sweater

Skirt (if sold out similar here )// Booties – (cheaper here & here ) // Sweater // Bralette // Clutch (similar here & here)

Hey Babes, Happy Thursday! Not sure about for you, but this week has gone by so slow for me. I don’t know if its because Riley’s stitches finally come out this weekend, and I cannot wait for that, or what, but I cannot wait for the weekend!

I am so excited about today’s outfit, because everyone seems to be loving the Shein clothing I did a try on haul for, and this features one of the items as well as others that I have previously purchased. Other than my booties and bag, I got my ENTIRE look from SheIn and I am loving it!

I bought this cute skirt, sweater, and bralette all for just $34 ! If you are wanting to add some cute pieces to your fall collection but do not want to spend a fortune, check out SheIn! The boots and clutch are both Stuart Weitzman, which can be a little pricey, so I have also linked some more affordable options!

SIZING

Since a bunch of you always ask about sizing from SHEIN, I wanted to share the sizing for the items I got so that you can compare.

General- I usually wear a size 27 jeans (4), 4/6 in dresses, and S or M in skirts/pants/shirts depending on the cut.

Skirt- I ordered a size Large. The comments said to size up and noted that it’s a skirt but has a thin lining of shorts on the inside that are a bit tight. Large gave me space to move around in them without feeling like it was tight or constricting. It’s a little loose around my waist but fits!

Bralette- This is a one-size only item. It’s strapped in the back so wasn’t constricting or tight at all.

Sweater- Wearing a size small and it’s perfect!

Hope everyone has a great rest of their week! What are your weekend plans?

The Most Perfect Ruffle Sweater

Ruffle Sweater // Jeans // Booties

Hi Babes! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. I shared this gorgeous sweater on my stories yesterday and everyone is loving it! I have always ordered clothing from Amazon because it is honestly so simple and with Prime I get all of my items within two days. This has come in handy when I need something the week of an event and it comes in within two days & if I decide I do not like the item, it is free returns. I have become an Amazon Fashion fan & can’t wait to show you guys what else I got!

My husband, my in-laws and I went pumpkin picking yesterday and it was so much fun! It was a nice crisp day out and perfect for the pumpkin patch. We went to Wightman’s Farm which is honestly one of my favorite places. It has become so much more popular so it was extremely busy but they have so much to do there. They have apple picking, pumpkin picking with a hay ride, pumpkin sling shot, various food trucks, a picnic spot, and a store where you can buy fresh donuts, pies, groceries, home decor, and treats! I also have to mention that they have roasted corn on a stick and pickles on a stick! So good!

Anyway, this sweater came right on time and handy this weekend because we had plans to go Pumpkin picking and it was about 60 degrees out! Although this sweater is not heavy, it still kept me plenty warm!  The ruffle detail on the front and on the sleeves is adorable and I got so many comments on it at the pumpkin patch. I am wearing a size small in this sweater and I would say it is TTS. I love clothing in the color olive for the fall so when I saw these light olive jeans, I knew I had to have them. I am wearing a size 4 for reference and they fit very TTS. Lastly, I got these booties two seasons ago but am still obsessing over them. They aren’t extremely high and look perfect with jeans, so they have become one of my go to’s! I linked similar ones up above.

Do you like ruffle details on tops?

Dress // Hat // Shoes

Hi Babes!

Happy Monday, I hope you all had a wonderful weekend & got to relax a little! We had a great weekend celebrating my little sister’s 25th birthday in Atlantic City! We went out to dinner at Carmine’s and had a family style meal and then went out to Harrah’s pool where Jesse McCartney performed and Mairo Lopez was a special guest!

Anyway, I found this cute boho-chic dress that is perfect for fall and I am loving it! I love the lose fit to it and the off-the-shoulder look it has. The shoulder area is stretchy and you can easily tie it tighter or loser I would also probably wear this with a bandeau underneath so that I can wear it lower like I like it. It is incredibly comfortable and the colors is gorgeous. Pair it with a hat, some booties, and even a blanket scarf and you have yourself a gorgeous fall outfit!

This is my first time purchases from the shop “Darlin’ Daisy” but I love it. I have seen their items and did not want to buy but their stuff was so cute I had to try it. The shipping takes a little long (around 1-2 weeks) because they are not in the U.S. but the item came and it was in perfect condition. I can’t wait to get more!

With the weather starting to cool down, I’m all about the comfy clothing! Camouflage is in right now, and I totally have camo fever. I’ve been looking for a good pair of joggers that I can lounge in, and finally found these gorgeous camo ones for under $20! You can’t beat that! Also, just wanted to mention that the Nike’s are currently on sale and only $60. I have the all black but those are usually sold out, and the other colors are just as nice.

These pants are so comfortable and you can easily pair them with a t-shirt, sneakers and a hat for a casual outfit,.OR if you wanted to dress them up a bit, pair them with black booties, and a long sleeve crop!

My gorgeous husband is making his debut on the blog today!

I wanted to talk about this white dress because I love it. I purchased it for wedding-type activities and had decided to save it for our honeymoon, and I am really glad I did. This dress is insanely gorgeous and so comfortable. I knew I wanted to take pictures while we were on our honeymoon in Bali, so I made sure to pack some white items for the occasion.

The fit of this dress was TTS. I am wearing a size medium here and it was actually a little loose on the sides. I knew I would be eating a lot so I didn’t mind the looseness. The off-the-shoulder aspect of the dress just adds to it’s beauty along with the lace detail. I have linked the details in the images and have also linked similar dresses above.

These photos were taken in Uluwatu, Bali which was insanely beautiful, and by far our favorite place in Bali. We stayed at the Anantara Uluwatu Resort in an ocean front suite. The resort/hotel itself are on the cliff side over looking the ocean. All of the restaurants at the hotel had views of the ocean like pictured above. Bali was one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen!
